What we do
We design outdoor spaces where physical, emotional and sensory experience guides every decision alongside aesthetics, maintenance and safety. We create a flow to the space which merges in the function of the project as natural and architectural element. Children's gardens are at the heart of our practice: spaces where play, learning and nature are in harmony. We work across all scales, from private gardens to institutional landscapes.
For Kitas and kindergartens looking to develop their outdoor environments and to integrate those spaces into the fabric of their educational programme; we offer a consultancy that brings together spatial design, pedagogical thinking and hands-on implementation experience. We work with you from brief to buildout, in cooperation with Nork Preschool.
About
Groundcraft is a Munich-based design and consultancy practice specialising in garden and playground design.
The practice was founded by Mehmet Ali Hatipoğlu, who studied Architectural Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (MSc) and architecture as well as city and regional planning at Istanbul Technical University (BSc), and has worked at leading offices in Rome, Milan and Istanbul. Years of design and build work across Istanbul's Prince Islands and Izmir's Karaburun coast deepened his relationship with nature and landscape design.
In 2017, designing the garden of a historic Istanbul building for a kindergarten brought that experience to bear on playgrounds. It is a focus the practice has held since; designing and overseeing gardens where children play in thoughtful spaces.
Based in Munich, Groundcraft brings this depth of experience to new ground.
